At Teck, we know that our diversity—the unique perspectives and qualities we individually and collectively bring to work each day—contributes to building a stronger workforce and makes us a better company. Our focus on inclusion and diversity is rooted in our company’s core values of inclusion and respect.
Employee inclusion networks serve as a systematic approach to addressing systemic inequities and support respect, inclusion, and belonging at Teck. They bring a group of people together to advance a sense of community and belonging among employees who share a common aspect identity and create a space to identify challenges and amplify solutions. Inclusion networks typically involve a balance of social activities and support aspects. These groups help guide policy and engagement to foster a sense of belonging at Teck. Our global Women’s Network seeks to connect, include and advance women through engaging workshops and meaningful dialogue. Our Red Dog and Highland Valley Copper operations also have Women in Mining groups, which advocate and act to improve working conditions for women.
Rainbow Alliance
Teck’s Rainbow Alliance is an employee-led and voluntary 2SLGBTQ+ inclusion network that aims to foster a sense of community and advance 2SLGBTQ+ equity and inclusion at Teck. Open to all Teck employees who are members of the 2SLGBTQ+ community and allies, the Rainbow Alliance seeks to build a safe and inclusive environment, support Teck's 2SLGBTQ+ employees, and actions change to advance equity and inclusion at Teck.
The Rainbow Alliance helps guide and support employee and community engagement around opportunities such as Pride Month. For example, a group of employees from the Rainbow Alliance have been key to creating Teck’s Gender Transition Guideline. The inclusion network helps to surface challenges and find solutions.
PRIZMA
Based in Chile, PRIZMA was established in early 2023 with the purpose of creating an affinity group focused on diversity and inclusion. The group is focused on promoting a safe workplace and creating a space where 2SLGBTQ+ employees and allies can share ideas, receive professional development, and build a sense of community—with the goal of fostering an environment where every employee feels respected and included.
The group has undertaken several initiatives, including organizing talks that emphasize respect, empathy and courageous leadership. PRIZMA has also been actively involved in training workshops aimed at raising awareness and building skills related to diversity and inclusion.
