Safety and Health

At Teck, safety is more than a priority. It is an unwavering value and an inherent part of who we are. We strive to be a company where “Everybody Goes Home Safe and Healthy Every Day.” Our safety strategy is anchored by two key principles:

1. There must be effective safety and health systems in place that provide the foundation for a safe work environment.
2. Employees must be engaged in the safety and health vision both cognitively and emotionally.

In 2009, we began a progressive journey toward embedding safety into every action of every employee every day. Courageous Safety Leadership is a philosophy that challenges existing values, beliefs and attitudes towards safety. It outlines the changes required to attain a true “culture of safety”. Courageous Safety Leadership challenges employees to make a personal commitment to safety and to feel an emotional connection to the vision in order to drive the change.
