External Certification of ISO Management Systems

Teck has worked towards external certification of environmental management systems since 2002, choosing to conform to the internationally recognized ISO 14001 framework as the basis for formalization. By the end of 2007, six of our Operations had attained and maintained follow-up certification:

• Teck Metals Smelter, Trail, BC, certified in 2005
• Red Dog Lead-Zinc Mine, Red Dog, Alaska, certified in 2004
• Antamina Port Facilities, Huarmay, Peru, certified in 2005
• Elk Valley Coal, Fording River Operation, BC, certified in 2001
• Elk Valley Coal, Greenhills Operations, BC, certified in 2005
• Elk Valley Coal, Coal Mountain, BC, certified in 2005

All remaining Operations are working towards certification, excepting sites less than three years to closure.
