Procurement and Local Hiring
Teck purchases locally-sourced goods and services wherever possible, providing these are at the level of quality that meets our criteria. Our commitment to supporting local economies is guided by our Code of Sustainable Conduct which states that the company will “support local communities and their sustainability through measures such as development programs, locally sourcing goods and services, and employing local people.”
We have a direct economic impact on host communities and labour markets through wages, purchasing from locally-based suppliers and local hiring practices. Located in different and often remote areas, our Operations define “local” on an individual basis either regionally, provincially or state-wide.
